Together with Audi, Precitec has been nominated for the Photonics Frontiers Award 2026. The Laser Welding Monitor with AI generates a photonic 3D fingerprint of each weld seam and thus supports reliable quality monitoring in series production.

Precitec and Audi nominated for the Photonics Frontiers Award 2026

Electromobility places the highest demands on industrial battery production. In the production of battery modules, thousands of welded joints must be produced reliably, reproducibly and with consistently high quality. This is precisely where Precitec and Audi are taking an innovative approach.

The Precitec Laser Welding Monitor with AI-based evaluation combines sensor-based process monitoring with machine learning. This creates a photonic 3D fingerprint of each weld seam, which enables precise evaluation of the welding quality. Process deviations can be detected at an early stage, making production more transparent and quality assurance significantly more efficient.

Together with Audi, Precitec was nominated for the Photonics Frontiers Award 2026 for this approach. The nomination shows the potential that lies in the combination of laser technology, photonics and artificial intelligence for the scalable production of battery modules.
