From research to industrial application
Together with the IFSW and ISW institutes at the University of Stuttgart, we have brought the Easy Metal Printer (CoaxPrinter) to market maturity - an innovative system for additive metal production using coaxial laser wire cladding. The result of successful collaboration between science and industry, the processing head offers an efficient alternative to conventional metal 3D printing processes using powder.
The wire-based technology impresses with its precise material deposition, reduced energy consumption and the ability to process a wide range of materials such as aluminum, titanium or steel. It not only enables new design freedom, but also the production of complex, hybrid components - and is already being used successfully around the world.
The project was realized as part of the InnovationChallenge 2023 of the Innovation Campus Mobility of the Future (ICM). The targeted funding and close integration of research, development and application accelerated the transfer from idea to marketable product - a strong example of how innovation-driven collaboration provides sustainable impetus for industry.
