Are there any applications for which AI is not interesting?
Joachim Schwarz talks in Laser World Of Photonics about the technological potential of AI for laser-based production and quality monitoring and how the use of AI could influence the hardware requirements.

Hand in hand for customised solutions
Article in Glass WorldWide April 2021
Precitec’s optical measuring technology is used throughout manufacturing industry for quality inspection and measuring applications.

Non-contact thickness measurement of non-transparent components
Publication in the German Magazine InVision in April 2020
With the CHRocodile 2 DPS dual-channel sensor Precitec Optronik offers a stand-alone solution that enables non-contact thickness measurement of non-transparent components in both inline and offline production processes. Utilizing the geometry of the structure, the thickness of an object is calculated internally in the CHRocodile 2 DPS using the distance data to the two surfaces and provided directly to the user as a measurement signal.

In-Process Wafer Step Height Measurement
Non-contact and non-destructive optical measuring in the nanometer range
During the grinding process the wafer thickness needs to be controlled in real time. A non-contact, optical measurement technology is the ideal solution to monitor the wafer thickness in-process. Optical technology also enables profiling of chip-on-wafer and MEMS during grinding.

Laser welding using optical coherence tomography
Nowadays the laser is a conventional tool used in industrial manufacturing for a wide variety of applications, from subtractive to additive, from cutting to welding. A major topic in production today is digitalisation and Industry 4.0. In this context the laser is playing a dominant role, because it is possible to produce a part directly from a digital model by contactless processing. This unique feature allows monitoring processes with smart devices, which is a key issue of Industry 4.0.

Seconds instead of minutes: quality control with Flying Spot Scanner
Interferometric surface inspection with movable measurement spot.
Complete 3D measurement of objects using white light interference in mass production is time consuming and therefore
not well-suited for use as a means of inline inspection. In addition, the long measurement cycles with complex sequences
generate large amounts of data and the effort for processing the data must also be included in overall considerations. Read more...
